It’s never too late to reinvent yourself, says Limor Decter, a luxury travel advisor who got into the industry following a first career as a high school English teacher. She also abides by the credo: If you choose a job you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life. Today, she is a travel advisor at Embark Beyond in New York City, specializing in luxury leisure trips and personalized itineraries for honeymoons, safaris, multigenerational groups, milestone celebrations, and wellness retreats.
We met Limor in Rome and we created a couple session at the Campidoglio, a location that offers different points of view on the city and the Imperial Forums. It only takes a few minutes together with Limor to get involved in his enthusiasm and positive attitude. Limor doesn’t experience the world around her alone but shares it with others, her family, friends and her work… This connection is what every photographer looks for during the shooting.

Planning 5-star travel is often seen as the dream job by many, when did you start your career as a travel agent ? What prompted you to do it ?
I have been traveling and planning travel for decades. Travel is my passion. When I turned 50, I had a great opportunity to join the luxury leisure travel industry. It has been so rewarding and gratifying to start a new global career, to travel and to connect with great colleagues.
Knowing wonderful destinations and being able to stay in any hotel must sometimes be difficult to choose what to suggest to your clients. What has been the dream trip you have already taken for your clients ?
I have been so lucky to experience my dream trip by going on safari. Safari is the most epic travel experience that is truly transformational.
Working with the best suppliers around the world and being used to having impeccable service, what do you think makes the difference when choosing who to partner with ?
My preferred partners are my secret sauce. They are the ones who make me shine and they are the ones with boots on the ground to pick up the pieces if something goes wrong. My relationship with partners is vital. It is a relationship built on trust, honesty and transparency. My partners and I have a shared goal to elevate and enrich client’s travel experience. We work together collaboratively to create this from the start so that the clients have a memorable and seamless trip.
Among the many experiences that can be organized during a trip why did you decide to try and propose a professional photo service ? What makes this experience so special ?
Photos are the only physical memories of a trip. Photos capture a time and essence of the subjects and the location. Trip memories grow richer with time and the photos are a living memory that can be enjoyed for years to come. The photos are priceless.
Where would you like to have a really special photo shoot ?
I was so lucky to have my photo shoot in Rome and I also hope to have future photo shoots with Pix Around perhaps on safari.
